Acceptance
I once heard that the root of all pain is resistance. And while there are many types of root systems that blossom into different shades of pain or joy, it’s not hard to see the magnitude of resistance - the overarching agitation and disconnect it causes.
Resistance to our current life situation. Resistance to how we perceive things or people “should” be. Resistance to the path we’re on, to our thoughts, to what we’re drawn to because of how that deviates from the mental constructs, or limiting beliefs, of what we think these should be.
Resistance is a battle. A fight against what is. And the answer, the cure, is not in changing what is. Or else we’re bringing that same energy into the next situation. Changing the situation is superficial, it’s transient.
The antithesis of resistance is acceptance.
Until we accept what is, we can’t see the full picture. We’re flailing, in the heat of battle. The next steps aren’t clear. We’re working on instinct, habits, learned patterns (both healthy and unhealthy). It’s acceptance that brings us back to the present. That gives us the space to access our intuition. That brings us back to yourselves.
Once we accept, we’re able to see the bigger picture, the hidden door, the opportunity, the blessing in the unexpected and unplanned. We’re at peace. We’re one with ourselves. We…are.
