Questions about my practice and working with me
What is a Nurse Practitioner? A Nurse Practitioner has a background as a Registered Nurse, as well as a combined Master of Nursing — Nurse Practitioner degree and certificate that leads to an expanded knowledge base and increased scope of practice. In Ontario, Nurse Practitioners are able to assess, diagnose, prescribe medications, order blood work and imaging tests, and refer to specialists. They can function as general practitioners or as practitioners with specific areas of focus.
What conditions do you treat? Embodied Health is focused on women's reproductive health, with a particular emphasis on PCOS, endometriosis, fertility support, and perimenopause and menopause. A whole-person approach means we also explore the mental, emotional, and lifestyle factors that influence your reproductive and hormonal health. If you're unsure whether your concern fits, please don't hesitate to reach out — a discovery call is a great place to start.
What tests can Nurse Practitioners order? Nurse Practitioners can order the same tests as a family doctor, including blood work, urine testing, STI testing, X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs, and bone mineral density scans.
Can Nurse Practitioners prescribe medications? Absolutely. We can prescribe new medications, continue current prescriptions, and monitor your response to treatment, adjusting your care plan as needed.
Are Nurse Practitioner appointments covered by OHIP? Nurse Practitioner appointments are not currently covered by OHIP, however most blood work and imaging tests are covered. Medication prescriptions may be covered by your insurance plan.
What role does botanical medicine play in your practice? Botanical medicine — the use of plants and herbs as therapeutic allies — is woven into care plans where appropriate. Plants are not used as a quick fix, but as support alongside lifestyle, nutritional, and medical care to help your body do what it has always been meant to do. If you have questions about specific herbs or supplements, we can discuss these within your appointment.
Is Psychotherapy covered by insurance? Psychotherapy with a Nurse Practitioner is covered by many insurance plans. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your coverage. Once your session is complete and payment received, you will be provided with a receipt to submit to your insurance company.
How do appointments work? Nurse Practitioner appointments are $225 for an initial 60-minute appointment and $125 for 30-minute follow-up appointments.
Psychotherapy appointments are $150 for 50 minutes. People typically find it beneficial to book appointments weekly or biweekly.
What platform do you use for virtual appointments? All appointments are provided through Jane App, a PHIPA-compliant platform available to clients throughout Ontario.
I don't see my specific concern listed on your website. Can you still help? Possibly — I encourage you to reach out by email or book a complimentary discovery call to explore whether your concern is something we can work through together.
Do you offer evening appointments? Select evening appointments are available for those unable to attend during daytime hours. Please reach out directly by email to arrange this.
Do you offer in-person appointments? All appointments are virtual, conducted through a secure video link so you can attend from the comfort of your own space.
I live outside Ontario — can I work with you? Due to provincial regulations, Nurse Practitioner and Psychotherapy appointments are available to Ontario residents only.
Do you offer refunds? Refunds are not offered. I encourage you to explore my website or book a discovery call to make sure we're the right fit before getting started.
